SANTA POLA KINESITHERAPY

SANTA POLA KINESITHERAPY TREATMENT

Kinesitherapy is a physical therapy technique that uses movement as a form of rehabilitation for muscle or joint injuries or pathologies.

This exercise produces different effects on the areas involved, such as:

  • Improves circulation, venous and lymphatic return.
  • Increased muscle tone and power, especially during resistance exercises.
  • It helps loosen joints and improve mobility. This helps prevent stiffness and adhesions.
  • Improves coordination, balance and proprioception.

Depending on the patient’s participation in this movement, we can divide kinesitherapy into:

Passive Kinesitherapy:

These are all techniques aimed at restoring mobility in the affected area, but without any patient involvement. They are all performed by the physical therapist. Thus, we help restore joint range of motion and, above all, prevent adhesions.

Active Kinesitherapy:

In this case, the patient participates in the movement. Depending on this participation, we can divide active kinesitherapy into:

  • Active assisted kinesitherapy: when the patient needs help to complete the movement.
  • Free active kinesitherapy: This is when the patient simply executes free movement without any external force. Here, the focus is on the coordination between agonist and antagonist muscles to ensure stable and appropriate movement.
  • Active resisted kinesitherapy: Here, the patient must overcome an external force to perform the movement, whether it be a force exerted by the physiotherapist or by another means such as weights, elastic bands, etc. This therapy primarily helps to improve power, volume, and increase muscular endurance and capacity.

All treatments must be directed and prescribed by a physical therapist, as this is the only way to ensure they are being performed correctly. You can now request your first appointment here.
