GYNECOLOGICAL SERVICES
Gynecology and Obstetrics Review
Gynecological reviews are recommended from 25 years or after the start of the first sexual intercourse. Once the first consultation has been carried out, they must be carried out once a year.
In these visits an integral assessment of the female genital apparatus is carried out. Normally an appointment with the gynecologist includes a breast exploration, abdominal exploration, a bimanual touch, sycculoscopy with cytology and gynecological ultrasound for assessment of the uterus and ovaries. It is vital to carry out a medical history details with the personal, family and gynecological history of the patient to make a more successful diagnosis and follow up on it.
The importance of these reviews lies in the early diagnosis of possible diseases related to the intimacy of women and their reproductive system thus avoiding more complex phases.
Contraception
Our gynecological team can advise you on the available contraceptive methods that best adapt to you and your partner. This consultation is known as family planning.
It is very important to know the risks of maintaining unprotected sex and not correctly use the contraceptive methods that are recommended. This is solved with information and advice.
Contraceptives are methods that prevent pregnancy and, in some cases, the transmission of infectious diseases. We currently have an infinity of methods and the choice of one or the other will depend on your relationship or your specific personal needs. The most common are barrier methods such as male condom, oral hormonal contraceptives, vaginal ring, transdermal patch, intrauterine device (IUD), subcutaneous implant and tubal ligation.
Cervical pathology
This service encompasses the injuries and infections that occur in the cervix. It is essential to make an early diagnosis of precancerous cancer lesions from the cervix since if they are allowed to evolve, they could end up developing a cancer of the cervix. This is done through colposcopy. This is a technique that studies the surface of the cervix with a microscope after applying reagents, with which we can see if there are affected areas and perform a biopsy if needed.
Pelvic floor
The women’s muscles and ligaments, over the years and naturally, lose strength and elasticity. In addition, other external factors such as pregnancy, childbirth, tobacco or obesity among others, aggravate the problems related to the pelvic soil.
We understand pelvic soil as the set of muscles and ligaments that form the lower part of the pelvis and that support the uterus, bladder, urethra and rectum. We have to start worrying about our pelvic soil if we manifest symptoms of urinary incontinence, prolapse of pelvic organs or sexual dysfunction.
The best treatment to reinforce the pelvic soil is the same prevention of the weakness of the musculature, through guided exercises for professionals good eating habits. The treatment itself will depend on each specific case. Normally in the milder cases physiotherapy helps a lot to solve the problems of our pelvic soil and, in more serious cases, we will need surgical intervention.
Breast pathology
The self -exploration of the breast is a technique by which each woman can know the normality of our breasts and detect any anomaly. These alterations that we detect must be treated by a gynecologist or a qualified professional in the field.
If you detect any of these anomalies, do not hesitate to reserve your appointment with us for an exhaustive breast exam:
- Palpation of packages or mass in the breast or armpit
- Spontaneous secretions by nipple
- Induration or redness of the breast
- Nipple retraction
- Persistent pain in the breast
