As a clinic with partnerships with the best hospitals in the province of Alicante, should surgery be required, it will be performed at any of the private hospitals in the area, as well as, where appropriate, the actual hospitalization.

ORAL SURGERIES

Impacted wisdom teeth, third molars, and molars often require extraction for various reasons: lack of space for orthodontic treatment, malpositioned teeth, or complications arising from their eruption.

A simple physical examination by a professional, along with relevant X-rays, usually leads to the correct diagnosis and allows for further action. These can be obtained under local anesthesia or intravenously under conscious sedation, depending on the patient and the specific case.

ORTHOGNATHIC SURGERY

Orthognathic surgery is plastic surgery of the facial skeleton. This type of surgery is necessary for people whose bite is inadequate due to uneven growth of their maxilla and/or mandible.

At Clínica del Río-Hortega, we offer surgical solutions that will improve the patient’s functional occlusion and, on the other hand, facial aesthetics by repositioning the facial skeleton.

TREATMENTS FOR DYSFUNCTIONS AND MINOR SURGERIES

At our clinic in Santa Pola, we study, assess, and treat temporomandibular joint dysfunction and specific cases such as bruxism.

The temporomandibular joint, located in front of the ear, is responsible for moving the jaw. Parafunctions such as bruxism associated with predispositions can lead to very uncomfortable pain at this level. The surgeon’s role here is to assess the condition and its multidisciplinary treatment (dentistry, physical therapy, injections, etc.).
