Child Nutrition in Santa Pola
BABY LED WEANING METHOD
Once our baby grows and we begin introducing new foods, we have thousands of questions about their diet: How much should they eat and drink to be healthy? Why doesn’t they eat fruit? What can I give them to help them gain weight? Or, on the contrary, what should I take away if they’re “chubby”? Why doesn’t they want to try new flavors? The more they eat, the better they’ll grow?
In your child’s nutrition consultation, we’ll address nutritional education from your baby’s earliest years through adolescence, when they begin to worry a lot about their body image and engage in uncontrolled diets that can affect their development. The goal is none other than to maintain the good habits they’ve acquired and establish new guidelines for self-control.

Our nutritionist, Irene del Río-Hortega, will address the following issues in her specialized pediatric nutrition consultation:
- How we should introduce foods from 6 months onwards.
- Learn about the “Baby Led Weaning” (BLW) method or self-regulated or baby-directed complementary feeding.
- Know which foods should be in their daily diet and which ones we should avoid, how to prepare them, and offer healthy alternatives for both them and their environment.
Other aspects that are worked on in the pediatric nutrition consultation will be to address whether there is any food allergy or intolerance, illness, or overweight or obesity through diet.
Any changes or new healthy habits acquired will be achieved by taking into account each child’s personal characteristics, tastes, schedules, activities, anxiety, and environment, in order to achieve the best possible results and, above all, to ensure they last into adulthood.
